In 1907, the first practical, portable vacuum cleaner was invented by. James Spangler a janitor from Clinton, Ohio. Crucially, in addition to suction that used an electric fan, a box, and one of his wife’s pillowcases, Spangler’s design incorporated a rotating brush to loosen debris. Mr Spangler was unable to produce the design due to lack of funding, so he sold the patent in 1908 to William Henry Hoover who had Spangler’s machine redesigned with a steel casing, casters, and attachments. He called the new invention The Hoover Vacuum Cleaner. Subsequent innovations included the first disposal filter bags in the 1920s and the first upright vacuum cleaner in 1926. Hoover is now a household name. It is believed that the sport of darts started in Mid evil England as archers were told to throw short arrows at the bottom of a wine barrel in their archery training.. Tis past Thankssgiving we roasted our Turkey in a roaster oven. It was a first for us as we usually roast in a conventional oven or outside in our Webber Charcoal grill.
